That wasn’t so hard

Quick hits (part II) coming later.  For now, I just wanted to point out the necessary simplicity and honestly of this NYT headline.  If only more of the media could learn this:

Trump Again Falsely Blames Democrats for His Separation Tactic

About Steve Greene
Professor of Political Science at NC State

One Response to That wasn’t so hard

  1. Nicole K. says:

Yeah, my favorite justification so far is probably Jeff Sessions saying, “I would cite you to the Apostle Paul and his clear and wise command in Romans 13, to obey the laws of the government because God has ordained the government for his purposes.”

He added: “Orderly and lawful processes are good in themselves. Consistent and fair application of the law is in itself a good and moral thing, and that protects the weak, it protects the lawful.”

I still don’t understand how ripping children away from their parents serves any purpose other than terrorizing people unnecessarily simply because you can and you view them as lesser and unworthy of basic human decency. It seems like a pretty strong penalty for a crime that’s a misdemeanor level offense and before anyone has actually been convicted of anything.

Fortunately, even a significant number of conservatives find this practice problematic. Hopefully that results in it being ended sooner than later.
