No permit for concealed gun; but forget the concealed slingshot

If it’s not bad enough that some NC Republicans are so obsessed with gun “rights” that they thing even requiring a concealed carry permit is too burdensome, they’ve got to name the damn thing “Constitutional Carry.”  Oh please!  From the Charlotte Observer:

A Cabarrus County state legislator has introduced a bill that would do away with the need for a permit to carry a concealed gun.

Sponsored by Rep. Larry Pittman, House Bill 69 (called the Constitutional Carry Act) would eliminate the need for concealed-carry permits for North Carolinians who carry handguns, but not for larger firearms. Any U.S. citizen 18 years or older would be able to carry a concealed handgun under the proposed legislation, unless otherwise disallowed by state or federal law.

As a former resident of Lubbock, I’m sure that this legislation will not surprise you! From the Texas Tribune:
“House Bill 375 — authored by State Rep. Jonathan Stickland, R-Bedford — is known as ‘constitutional carry’ and it would make the licensing process and classes to obtain a permit optional. The idea, according to Stickland, is that Texans shouldn’t be forced to take a course and pay a fee to exercise their Second Amendment rights. If passed, Texas would be the 11th state to allow constitutional carry.”

What “constitutional carry” as well as the other gun craziness means to me is that I need to shop online in the hopeful shelter of my own home and avoid places where people gather.
Seniors can’t afford to take the risk.
    Sorry, local businesses.

“… if we can carry concealed, criminals and terrorists have no idea which lawful citizens just might fight back.”

So they’ll shoot him immediately. Or me.

The pathetically illogical argument you always hear from the “gun rights” crowd are quite illuminating. My favorite being that if guns were outlawed, criminals would still have guns anyway. I guess we should just repeal rape and murder laws, since these still happen.
