Age, Race, and the generation gap

I’ve written before about the growing generation gap in American politics– younger voters are dramatically more Democratic than older voters. ┬áSome recent polling from Gallup illustrates that, at least as of now, the gap is almost entirely a whites-only phenomenon. ┬áCheck out this table:

I also wonder if that huge gap among the 40-49 whites (hey, that’s me!) is meaningful or an artifact of this particular poll (though, the whole set is based on a whopping 15,000 respondents).
