Quote of the day

This, from Michael Bloomberg about the Mosque near ground-zero nuttiness, is awesome:

Whatever you may think of the proposed mosque and community center, lost in the heat of the debate has been a basic question: Should government attempt to deny private citizens the right to build a house of worship on private property based on their particular religion? That may happen in other countries, but we should never allow it to happen here.

I had a pretty good post on this, citing heaps of this speech, but my firefox froze and I lost my mojo. However, the general point remained: that what we have here is ethnic outbidding. Politicians trying to win an auction of extremism. The opening bid is banning mosques near the site of the World Trade Center. The next bid is book burning, and so on. http://saideman.blogspot.com/2010/08/mosque-madness.html
