Chart of the day

In a post from Chait on why Obama’s attempts at bipartisanship failed, he includes this chart:

<p>This graph shows the ideological movement for both parties in the House. Note the steady shift towards conservatism among Republicans. </p>

An extremely dramatic look at how the Republican party has moved to the right tremendously more than Democrats have moved left.  Once again, it’s the asymmetry.

    I’ve seen it so many times, but every time I see it I’m just floored by the steady (and sudden) march rightward of the Republicans since the late 1970s.

    If I may suggest, using larger graphics of the charts? Often I find the text very difficult to read. I think you can use larger graphics, then set the size to what you want, and that might allow people to click on the graphic and see the full size image. Not sure, and just a suggestion.

    Thanks for the feedback. I try to when I can (but I’ll be more conscious of this). In this case, Chait had a particularly small chart with no link to the original.
