Last JonBenet for a while

I know I have to let the subject go, but the morning “news” programs hit a new low (okay, they tied a consistent low) today in interviewing passengers who shared the plane back to America with John Karr.  What possible newsworthiness or insight could these persons provide?  None.  Not only was it shameless, it was just plain boring.  I'm sure these shows do all sorts of research to see what viewers want, since it is all about getting viewers to earn more money, but could their research possibly show that viewers want such inane interviews as some schmo complaining about too many cameras on his plane?  I'd almost think people would rather here about Lebanon!

What the New York Times really says

Thanks again to Mike Cobb for passing on a terrific link entitled “What right-wingers see when they read the New York Times.“  This is hilarious.  Please note, due to some adult content (language) viewer discretion is advised.

On a serious note, there is something called the “Hostile Media Effect” by which partisan of both sides tend to have perceptual biases that make them think the media is against them.  In the intersting experiment described at the link above,  pro-Arab students and pro-Israeli students disagreed about factual information presented in news clips.  Of course, we know that Republicans are much more susceptible to the hostile media phenomenon than are Democrats :-) .
