More on Missile Defense

In Bush's softball interview with Larry King this week, King queried the President about how we might deal with a North Korean missile attack…
KING: Were you prepared to shoot it down?
G. BUSH: If it headed to the United States, we've got a missile defense system that will defend our country.
That's it. End of discussion on the matter. Of course, if Larry King were a real journalist, he would have made mention of the fact that there's little evidence that the system could, in fact, shoot down a ICBM. The fact that the President, or any politician, can go on Larry King and make such assertions and have them go unchallenged is why politicians love Larry King. Politics is so much easier when you can avoid the tough questions.
